The girls of your country broke my heart when I visited. Your post on that woman yesterday (for you- earlier today for me) was what- well, what I knew young women like this were going toward. That was 1986...24 years ago. Many of those young girls would look like that woman in your post because I was in those rural areas you were visiting and I knew there was no other future for them.
@ Margot- thank you. When I see the girls in Indian villages, my heart breaks. So beautiful, so full of life, and yet so few opportunities.
@ Mary- her mother is years younger than me, and looks years older.
@ Danette- it is really sad isn't it. So much potential all going waste because there are no opportunities. At least the boys get away and earn their livelihood in cities, but what of the girls. Who will ever do anything for them, or even allow them to do something for themselves?
